The Dainese Tempest D-Dry gloves are perfect for those who have to cope with bad weather and cold. Comfortable, unisex and equipped with a D-Dry® membrane, we tested them in the middle of winter. Here’s how our test went.

The best allies for female riders braving the cold winter days in the saddle are gloves. We have talked many times about how important it is to keep your hands warm to ride better, and also about the most popular methods of preventing chilling.
Between mittens, grips and winter or heated gloves, the choice is wide. In this case we’re talking about gloves designed for the most diverse situations, from cold to rain, we’re talking about precisely those gloves to have with you when you’re travelling in the mountains and variable weather and temperatures are the order of the day.

But what is so special about the Dainese Tempest gloves? The D-Dry® membrane. This technology offers excellent waterproof and windproof properties, as well as marked breathability, allowing sweat to easily evaporate outside in all weather conditions.

What Dainese Tempest D-Dry gloves look like

To begin with, let’s specify that these are not gloves for women but unisex. It will therefore be normal to feel the palm area slightly larger for a female biker.
They are made of a combination of stretch fabric with leather and suede reinforcements on the palm. There are approved Comfortech protectors on the knuckles.
Comfort is guaranteed by the thermal padding and the waterproof and breathable D-Dry membrane, about which we have previously written.
Interesting is the presence of the Dainese Smart Touch that allows you to use a device with touch screen without having to take off your gloves and the Visor Wiper, a soft and flexible TPR element, very useful to easily clean dirt from the visor.

The motorbike test

Soft and comfortable, the Dainese Tempest gloves are available in two versions: short or long. In our case we tried the short version.
Not being a glove designed specifically for the female physique, it is slightly bulky in the palm area. Fortunately, sizes from 3XS are available, but the advice is always to try them on before buying.
They are comfortable gloves, designed for the colder seasons and the thickness of the palm does not particularly affect riding. The chamois leather allows a good grip but it is certainly the D-Dry membrane that makes this optimal, keeping the temperature of the hands constant.
