Lessinia is an area is a plateau in the Vicentine Pre-Alps, located north of Verona. There are many roads to be travelled by motorbike in this area and they offer the motorcyclist clean, fresh air thanks to the peaks that reach an altitude of between 1,500 and 1,800 metres above sea level. In this itinerary, we will also pass through Valpolicella and recommend some less frequented roads to better enjoy every kilometre.
From Verona to Bosco Chiesanuova
The Lessini route you see on the map can be travelled either clockwise or anticlockwise.
Departure from Verona. We leave the central area and take the SR11 towards the east, passing San Martino Buon Albergo and then take the SP37 towards the north. We ascend the SP16, which will take us through the villages of Mezzane di Sotto and Mezzane di Sopra with some nice hairpin bends. At Bettola we keep to the left and climb towards San Mauro di Saline and Velo Veronese. We are now at something over 1,000 metres above sea level and we are already immersed in the valley. Continuing on is a succession of woods, pastures, and roads with an excellent surface.
At Camposilvano we stay to the right at the crossroads, taking the SP6 northbound. A few kilometres on the left, we recommend a truly exceptional typical restaurant Il Paparo Vecchio (via Parparo di Sotto, 1 1, 37028 Rovere’ Veronese VR), which offers the possibility of eating or drinking something both outside, thanks to a well-stocked kiosk, and in the restaurant. Convenient parking for motorbikes right in front.
We continue north to Malga San Giorgio and then south to Passo del Branchetto (1590 metres above sea level), a must for taking a few photos, and down to Bosco Chiesanuova, one of the most densely populated villages on the plateau.
On the ridge with a view of Lake Garda
From Bosco Chiesanuova we climb back into the saddle and head north along the SP13 through dense woods. We arrive at Passo delle Fittanze della Sega, touching 1,400 metres above sea level, and briefly cross into Trentino Alto Adige before taking the SP12 southwards. On our right we can see a beautiful view of Lake Garda, which will accompany us for a stretch.
We pass Fosse, Fumane and down the SP33c. We are in Valpolicella, a short distance from Verona, the finishing point of this Lessinia itinerary.
