In 1982, a 24-year-old English girl and a 9-year-old German motorbike set sail for New York with the still rather vague idea of circumnavigating the world. And indeed, from that moment on, life would never be the same for Elspeth Beard. As fast as the kilometres travelled, you will read about places, encounters, drama and fun, breakdowns and repairs, in a crescendo similar to a chess game. With two wheels in our hearts, and an engine that purrs. A 55,000 km trip around the world on a BMW R60/6. On her bike she loaded a tent, some clothes and a few tools. In her pocket she had the savings from a few months of pub work. The bike, which cost £900, had an odometer that already read 48,000. In those days no one was really prepared for a round-the-world trip. Elspeth’s only certainty was her riding ability. She had been riding motorbikes since her teens and knew the mechanics of her BMW very well. When she returned to London almost two and a half years later, she had much more experience and a good number of permanent ‘scars’ on her. In her book “Lone Rider” (available in Italian with the title ‘Sola, in moto’) she tells of her life and her incredible journey. Flexible cover Length: 336 pages Language: Italian Publisher: La Mala Suerte Ediciones Publication date: 11 July 2021 Condition: new
